Formula

• Mineral Oil (density: 0.838 g/mL) - 50% (v/v)
• Acacia - 12.5% (w/v)
• Syrup - 10% (w/v)
• Vanillin - 0.004% (w/v)
• Alcohol - 6% (v/v)
• Water - to 100%

Preparation Procedure

1. Thoroughly triturate acacia and mineral oil in a dry, clean Wedgwood (porcelain) mortar.
2. Add some water (~30%) and triturate vigorously until an emulsion is formed.
3. Dissolve vanillin in alcohol, mix with syrup, and slowly add the primary emulsion to this formulation with mixing.
4. Pour the mixture into a graduate, rinse the mortar with water and q.s. to make the requested volume.
5. Pour certain mL of the product into a prescription bottle. Save the remainder of the emulsion.
